Songs in the Key of Me
  1. 99 (January 16th, 1981): A song about only having 99 days left in Germany.
  2. Colour My World (May 1970): My cover of a song by Chicago.
  3. High School Sweetheart (September 24th, 1980): The title says it all.
  4. I Love You (Circa 1981): A song about a person who has a difficult time telling someone "I love you".
  5. My Dearest Woman (Circa 1982): Written after a long relationship came to an end. One time at a Neil Diamond concert, I flipped a cassette with this song (less polished) on the stage. I'm guessing it made its way to a garbage can, and Neil never knew it was there.
  6. Mystic Eyes (June 1981): This is the first song I wrote when I got to Fort Ord, California. It isn’t about anyone specifically, but more about someone (anyone) who has those translucent blue, almost grey, eyes, which I think are super cool looking, and a guy who is in their trap. I call them, and this song, Mystic Eyes.
  7. Hey Naninanina (Circa 1979): A silly little song about leaving home and longing to return, Thanks Army life!
  8. What Am I Doing Here? (June 1981): When I first arrived at Fort Ord, the barracks I stayed in were probably 40 to 50 years old already. They took the old barracks and just put up “partition like” walls and added some doors, so everyone had their own space. But they didn’t put in any drop ceilings, so all noises, smoke, and odors wafted throughout the building. This is my very short dedication song to a horrible living situation.
  9. Come A Rainy Day (April 1979): A song about being gone and the promise of coming back home.
The virtual choir provides Sopranos and Altos while the 20 voice Curtis Compton Choir provides the rest.
  10. A Professional Act (Feat. Jace and Steve) (Circa 1981): A spoof to a point of Dr. Hook's Cover Of "Rolling Stone".
During the Jam session, if you take the root note of all chords being played, you will have the notes for what chord is played during the normal parts of the song
  11. Figuring It Out (Circa 1979): A song about a guy who is still trying to figure his life out.
This song is unique, in that it goes up in pitch in to and out of the break, yet the verses are the same pitch.
  12. God Bless The U.S.A. (Circa 1984): My cover of Lee Greenwood's song. The owner of the dance studio I do music editing for informed me in early June that for the studio's 25th anniversary, she wants the finale to be her company dancers performing to this song, then paused and said "and you're going to be singing it." So here is MY take on this song.
  13. You're Sixty (Orig. Dec 1973 / My Cover Aug 2023): In 2020 I thought of recording this song for my wife's 60th birthday. Things happened and it never got done. So this year I finally got it done, but with a couple twists. I included the guitar solo from Dr. Hook's 'Only Sixteen' (the reason I decided to go with a slower groove for this song) and a line from The Beatles 'When I'm Sixty-Four'.
